Comprises 7 autograph letters from Sir Daniel Cooper to Jabez Hogg, dated 15 November 1861-29 August 1877 (with transcripts), and 1 printed portrait of Sir Daniel Cooper as vice-president of the London Commission for the Sydney Exhibition of 1879. The bound volume also contains a typescript biography of Cooper which is similar to that found in the Dictionary of National Biography.

Sir Daniel Cooper, 1821-1902, merchant, politician and philanthropist lived in New South Wales 1843-1861. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, 1849-1851, the Legislative Assembly, 1856-1860, served as Speaker of the House in three parliaments and was Agent General for New South Wales in London, 1897-1899.
